Unravelling encounters

Featuring Lucia Dohrmann, Sonja Porcaro, Nicole Clift and Meng Zhang

Curated by Suzanne Close

To unravel is to investigate that which is perplexing, entangled and mysterious.

The exhibition proposes a series of dialogues between the artworks as a way of unravelling their potential insights. Each artist has a nuanced material language that reveals the physical processes of undoing, remaking, gathering and unfolding. Their work alludes to a multiplicity of entangled meanings associated with the spiritual and psychological process of unravelling. Through our collective unravelling, we have the potential to develop a deeper perception of ourselves and weave new narratives.

Frank Grauso - Counting Days

What does it mean to count the days for someone who makes every day count?

Frank Grauso lives in the present, and his days are measured by his prolific output of iPad drawings. He aspires to capture the moment in his work, where the current mood is coloured by the accumulation of his lived experience and acquired wisdom. His academic training in Italy, personal connections within the art world, love of art history and European museums seep through the images as the past continually impresses upon the present.
